Privacy policy
Version 2026-10-01 · FootNote, Canada
This policy explains what information this website collects when you visit it or reserve a FootNote, how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can.
Information you give us when you reserve
- Your name, email address, country and (where applicable) province or state.
- The kind of musician or group you are and how you plan to use FootNote.
- Anything optional you choose to share: band or group name, number of performers, what you use today, what interests you, and comments.
- Whether you'd like product updates, and when you accepted the reservation terms.
- Payment status from Stripe: the amount, currency, Stripe payment reference and whether it was paid or refunded. We never receive or store your card number — you enter it on Stripe's own secure checkout page.
How we use it
- To hold and manage your reservation, confirm it by email, process refunds and contact you about your reservation, production and delivery.
- To understand demand. We produce aggregate statistics (for example, how many reservations, which countries, which kinds of musicians) for business planning, manufacturing decisions and financing or grant applications. These summaries don't identify you.
- To show the public reservation counter, which is a single number of paid reservations.
- To send FootNote product news only if you ticked the product updates box. You can unsubscribe at any time.
We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone except the service providers below, as needed to run the reservation.
Service providers
- Stripe processes your deposit payment. Stripe's handling of your payment information is governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.
- Our email delivery provider sends your confirmation and any updates.
- Our hosting provider runs the servers that store your reservation.
Some of these providers may process information outside Canada, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.
Website analytics and cookies
This website doesn't use advertising trackers, third-party analytics or tracking cookies, and doesn't load fonts or scripts from other companies. To understand how many visitors move from reading about FootNote to reserving one, the site records anonymous page and button events (for example "visited the page" or "started the form") with a random identifier that lives only in your current browser tab and is deleted when you close it. We store the referring website's domain and campaign tags, but not your IP address. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, these events aren't recorded at all.
The only cookie the site sets is a sign-in cookie for our own staff on the admin pages.
How long we keep it
We keep reservation records for as long as your reservation is active and afterwards for as long as needed for accounting, tax and legal obligations. If you cancel, we keep only what those obligations require.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it (subject to records we're legally required to keep), and you can withdraw consent to product updates at any time. Write to hello@footnotepedal.com. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial law.
