Reservation terms & refund policy

These terms apply when you place a refundable reservation deposit for a FootNote performance pedal on this website. They are written to be read, not skimmed past — please do.
1. FootNote is in development
FootNote is a product in active development that is preparing for its first production run. It is not available for sale or shipping yet. A reservation is not a purchase of a finished product, an order confirmation or a shipping confirmation.
2. What your reservation does
- It records that you want one FootNote unit from the first production run, and your place in line. When production units become available, we offer them to reservation holders in the order their deposits were confirmed.
- It helps us show real demand to manufacturers, partners and funders. We report reservation numbers in aggregate; see the privacy policy.
- One reservation covers one unit. If you'd like more than one, place a separate reservation for each.
3. The deposit
- The reservation deposit is $49 CAD, paid securely through Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- If you go on to buy FootNote, the full deposit is credited toward your purchase price.
- Any taxes that apply are calculated on the final purchase, not on the deposit.
4. Price
Our target retail price is approximately $299 CAD, Customers who reserve are intended to be offered a launch price of $249 CAD, which would leave a balance of about $200 CAD after your deposit, plus applicable taxes and shipping. This is a target, not a guarantee: final pricing may change before production. We will tell you the final price before you're asked to buy, and if you don't want to proceed at that price you can cancel for a full refund of your deposit.
5. No automatic charges
We will never charge the remaining balance automatically. When production and delivery details are final we'll contact you, and you'll explicitly confirm your purchase (and pay the balance) only if you choose to. Until then your reservation stays a reservation.
6. Cancelling and refunds
- You can cancel your reservation and receive a full refund of your deposit at any time before you convert it into a final production order. No reason is needed.
- To cancel, email hello@footnotepedal.com from the address you reserved with and include your reservation number.
- Refunds go back to your original payment method through Stripe. We start the refund within 5 business days of your request; your bank may take a further 5–10 business days to show it.
- If we decide not to proceed with production, or cannot offer you a unit, we will refund your deposit in full without you needing to ask.
- Once you convert your reservation into a final order, the terms of that order (including its own cancellation and return terms) apply instead. We'll show you those terms before you confirm.
7. Timing and features
We don't promise a shipping date. Reservation holders receive manufacturing and expected delivery updates as they become available. The features described on this website reflect what we are building and plan to include at launch; the final launch feature set and package will be confirmed before you're asked to complete a purchase, and if it isn't what you wanted you can cancel for a full refund.
8. Transfers
Reservations are personal to the person who placed them. If you'd like to transfer yours to someone else, contact us and we'll do our best to help.
9. Changes to these terms
The version of these terms you accepted is stored with your reservation. If we change them, the change won't reduce your right to a full deposit refund before you convert your reservation into an order.
